Remove information instead of covering it
Mark the areas to remove in the preview, or enter exact normalized rectangle coordinates. The tool renders every page, blacks out marked regions and rebuilds the PDF from those images. Original text layers and hidden page content are not copied.
Remove information from the shared copy
FolioSprint renders each page, removes the marked pixels and builds a new PDF from those images. Original text layers, links and hidden PDF objects are not copied. The result is no longer searchable and fine detail depends on rendering resolution.
Before you start
The output loses searchable text, links and interactive content. This deliberate tradeoff prevents original text from remaining beneath a black rectangle. Inspect every page and check the marked boundaries before distributing the redacted copy.
How to use Redact PDF
- Identify every occurrence
Upload the PDF and locate all appearances of the information, including repeated headers and other pages.
- Mark the full region
Drag over each area or enter its page and coordinates. Include enough space to cover every visible character.
- Inspect the downloaded PDF
Review every redaction edge and confirm that repeated information has also been removed before sharing.
Redact PDF questions
Is the original text layer retained?
No. This process rebuilds every page as an image and discards the original text layers. It is different from placing an ordinary rectangle annotation.
Does marking one name remove it everywhere?
No. Redaction applies to the regions you mark. Check every page for repeated occurrences.
Can redaction be undone?
The removed regions cannot be recovered from the rebuilt output. Keep your original privately if you need an authorized unredacted copy.
What happens to my files?
Files are private to your session or account. Free downloads expire after 2 hours; Pro downloads after 7 days. You can delete them sooner from your workspace.
