Add a clear note to an existing page
Place a text note on the PDF without changing the surrounding page content. Choose the page and position, then enter the text you want the recipient to see.
Add reading notes or explain a correction
Annotations can draw attention to a passage or add a short note beside it. They do not rewrite the document’s original text. A rectangle or highlight also does not securely remove information underneath it; use permanent redaction for that purpose.
Before you start
An annotation adds content; it does not erase the material below it. Do not cover confidential text with an ordinary annotation. Use Redact PDF when underlying information must be permanently removed.

Annotate PDF questions
Can I edit the original PDF text?
This tool adds marks over the existing page. To reuse and edit paragraphs, convert the PDF to Word and review the reflowed text.
Does covering text with a rectangle remove it?
No. An annotation is not permanent redaction. Use Redact PDF when the underlying information must be removed from the output.
Can I annotate more than one page?
Yes. Add marks to the appropriate page and inspect the annotation list before processing the file.
What happens to my files?
