Remove document properties before sharing
Create a fresh PDF without the source document’s ordinary metadata fields. The tool also removes supported active actions and embedded attachments from the output.
Reduce incidental information in a PDF
Document properties can contain a title, author or software details that are not part of the page’s visible content. Clearing these is useful before distribution, but it is not an anonymity guarantee. Names in page text, images, headers and signatures need a separate review.
Before you start
Metadata removal is not content redaction. Names in visible text, scanned images, comments or document content may remain. If your goal is to remove personal information, inspect the document itself and redact the relevant areas as well.
How to use Remove metadata
- Upload the PDF
Choose the copy whose document properties you want to clear.
- Remove the metadata
Start processing to write a cleaned PDF copy.
- Check what remains visible
Inspect the output’s document properties and visible pages before sharing it.
Remove metadata questions
Does this remove names printed on the page?
No. Visible text and page images remain. Use Redact PDF for specific regions that must be removed.
Will it preserve interactive features?
Active PDF content is removed during cleanup. Review forms, links or other interactive features if your workflow depends on them.
Is the result guaranteed anonymous?
No. The visible document itself may identify a person or organization. Review both the content and the file you will share.
What happens to my files?
Files are private to your session or account. Free downloads expire after 2 hours; Pro downloads after 7 days. You can delete them sooner from your workspace.
