Fit an image into practical dimensions
Enter maximum width and height and choose Keep proportions to fit the image inside those bounds. Choose Crop to fill when the output must match both dimensions exactly.
Prepare a photo for an online form
A form may limit both pixel dimensions and file size. Set the dimensions first, then adjust the output format and quality. Enlarging a small image produces more pixels but does not create missing detail. Check faces, text and logos at their intended display size.
Before you start
Keeping proportions can produce a smaller height or width than the requested box. Cropping removes pixels at the edges. Enlarging a small source cannot restore missing detail. Review faces, text and important edges before using the result.
How to use Resize images
- Upload the image
Check the source dimensions and the destination’s requirements.
- Set width, height and fit
Keep proportions fits the image inside your dimensions. Crop to fill produces the exact rectangle by trimming the edges.
- Inspect the result
Check that important content is still visible, especially after cropping. Confirm dimensions and file size on your device.
Resize images questions
Why is one dimension smaller than I entered?
Keep proportions fits the entire image within the requested box. One side can be smaller so the image is not stretched.
How do I get the exact width and height?
Choose Crop to fill. The image fills the rectangle and excess content near the edges is removed.
Will transparency be retained?
No. This workflow produces RGB images. Preserve your original if a transparent background matters.
What happens to my files?
