Choose a format for the destination
JPG suits many photographic uploads, PNG is useful for lossless image storage, and WebP is often accepted on websites. This converter writes RGB still images. It does not preserve transparency or animated image sequences, so it is unsuitable when those features must be kept.
Before you start
Output is a standard RGB image; transparency and animation are not preserved. Changing the file format does not improve a low-resolution original. Choose Resize images if you also need exact dimensions.

Convert images questions
Will a transparent PNG stay transparent?
No. This workflow converts the image to RGB. Use another workflow when you need to preserve an alpha channel.
Does changing to PNG restore JPG detail?
No. Lossless output cannot restore image detail already lost in the source.
Can I reduce the dimensions here?
Use Resize images for explicit width and height controls. This conversion workflow changes the format and quality settings.
